About Dr. George, MD
At the heart of Dr. George’s practice, is the belief that healing goes beyond medicine alone. With decades of experience in both family medicine and Chinese medicine, she supports women and men with breast cancer through personalized nutrition, lifestyle guidance, and integrative therapies. Whether you are preparing for treatment, actively undergoing chemotherapy or radiation, or moving into recovery, Dr. George provides evidenced-based care to strengthen resilience and promote whole-person healing.
Sheila George, MD is a board-certified physician whose practice integrates modern medicine with traditional healing approaches to support individuals with breast cancer. Through her telehealth practice, she provides personalized guidance in diet, nutrition, and lifestyle to help clients before, during, and after conventional treatments such as chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, and targeted therapies.
Dr. George earned her medical degree from Howard University School of Medicine and completed her Family Medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. She further trained in acupuncture at the New York Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, pursued advanced studies in Chinese Herbal Pharmacology in Philadelphia with Ted Kaptchuk, and studied Classical Chinese Medicine for many years under Daoist priest Jeffrey Yuen. Together, she and Master Yuen co-developed an acupuncture school in New York, where she served as the first academic dean.
Her career includes clinical and teaching work in Chinatown, NYC, as well as serving as an acupuncturist at the Integrative Medicine Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. George has also contributed to the medical literature, authoring textbook chapters on lung cancer (Food and Nutrients in Disease Management) and hypothyroidism (Advancing Medicine with Food and Nutrients).
In addition to her medical practice, Dr. George has studied and practiced a wide range of dietary approaches, including whole-food, plant-based eating, WFPB SOS-free, high-raw nutrition, intermittent fasting, and water fasting. She completed a 20-day water-only fast at TrueNorth Health Center in Santa Rosa, CA, and earned certification in Ayurvedic Nutrition and Culinary Training under Divya Alter at Bhagavat Life in New York.
